At Forward Strides we have 4 main objectives:
1. Decrease the rate of childhood obesity among children 8 - 12
The numbers are staggering, the CDC reports that % of children ages 8-12 are overweight and % are obese. This trend not only needs to stop, but it is imperitive that it reverses. Overweight and obese children are at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, and a host of other illnesses.
2. Give teachers and fitness professionals the tools they need to run a simple, effective youth fitness program
The key word in this objective is effective! We are dedicated to creating a system that is easy to implement, cost-effective, and enjoyable for the children.
3. Build healthy habits in children ages 8 - 12 so they can continue on the path of healthy living once they are no longer active in our program
Good habits are the key to any success. Healthy habits lead to a healthy lifestyle. It is not enough to know what to do, you need to do it consistently so it becomes part of your daily routine.
4. Educate children and their parents on the benefits of healthy choices and how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Knowledge is power, and when confronted with choices children are likely to make better ones if they are fully informed. It is important to implement early childhood activity training at a young age!
